1938
It is located at 79 Broadway. It becomes a gay bar in the mid-1940s, a lesbian bar in the 1960s, and by 1975 becomes known for its drag shows in a basement club, Jacques Underground. In 1965, Jacques’ owner opens another club across the street, The Other Side, reputed to be the first Boston to allow same-sex dancing.
